This essential one day social media training course will show you how and why to use social networks to engage with your customers, build your brand and increase participation levels, whatever your sport or activity.
The course provides hands-on, practical tuition on why and where to use a range of social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and now Google+ to make the biggest impact for you.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course you should:
- Understand the underlying principles of Social Media to engage with your clubs/schools/communities
- Understand how to make best use of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and other social media platforms
- Be able to plan and develop an online PR and social media strategy for your organisation or customers
- Have learnt how to create compelling content to increase your online presence


Course tutor Lissa Cook has a wide range of experience in PR and journalism. Her career includes five years producing Radio 4's flagship live news programmes - 'The World at One' and 'PM' and two years making documentaries and investigative reports for BBC networks including 5 live and The World Service.

Prior to that she worked as Senior Press Officer for the Liberal Democrats dealing directly with national newspaper political editors and broadcasters through the 2001 general election. Her first job was working as special adviser for former President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, at his Paris-based think-tank.
Lissa also has experience of PR and journalism within the sport and leisure industry; she’s now working for the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival, Cliffhanger Outdoors Festival, Active Derbyshire as well as the Community Sports Trust's projects Derbyshire Village Games and Jog Derbyshire, promoting grassroots sports across the county . She’s passionate about social media having launched BBC Radio 4’s PM blog with Eddie Mair which won the 2007 Sony Gold Interactive award. She also writes freelance for a range of publications and can from time to time be heard reading the news on her local radio station High Peak Radio.
