PE and Schools Sport Premium Funding - Derbyshire Event

We're delighted to be supporting Derbyshire Council Council's Physical Education and School Sport Service in bringing together Primary Headteachers to debate and plan for the best use of the recently announced PE and School Sport Premium FundingBaroness Sue Campbell will provide a keynote speech around the opportunities this funding offers and will no doubt supply a raft of ideas to inspire the 150 strong audience.
The seminar aims to provide the latest information on the funding and how it could be used to improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools as well as the opportunity for creative conversations with colleagues from across the county.

The purpose of the funding is to improve provision of PE and sport and whilst the funds are ring-fenced for this purpose, each school will have the freedom to choose how they spend the money.
Possible uses of the funding might include:

 

  • hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE

  • supporting and engaging  the least active children through new or additional Change4Life clubs

  • paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport

  • providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and sport

  • running sport competitions, or increasing pupils’ participation in the School Games

  • buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport

  • providing places for pupils on after school sports clubs and holiday clubs

  • pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools.
