New Assessor Qualifications
A new suite of qualifications was approved by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) in March 2010 and developed following an extensive review of the National Occupational Standards for Learning and Development. Essentially, the new LLUK qualifications for assessing replace the A1 and A2 qualifications and the recently introduced qualification for vocational achievement will provide a new pathway for assessors.
By launching a set of common qualifications that underpin teaching and learning, LLUK aims to professionalise the workforce across the lifelong learning sector as well as illustrate how the principles of teaching and learning can be applied to all facets of education and all sectors. Podium is working with sports coach UK to tailor the assessor programme of learning to suit the needs of our industry.
The Learning and Development Standard 9 ‘Assess Learner Achievement’ is about “assessing learning and development against agreed criteria”. It covers a range of different assessments including competence, knowledge and understanding and skills.
The new standards offer a useful opportunity for sports and the sector as a whole to consider how the workforce might benefit from assessor training and/or achievement of a recognised and accredited qualification.
