England Netball

Case Study – England Netball Training Programme, 2010-2011

We worked with England Netball to create a practical and affordable solution which met the identified training needs of middle managers.  England Netball initially opted for a series of 9 one-day training courses delivered as a structured programme.

The following topics were included within the programme:

- Time management skills and techniques

- How to delegate effectively

- How to prioritise

- Performance management of staff

- Communicating with staff and giving feedback

- Addressing problems and issues

- Delivering engaging and effective presentations

- Creating partnerships

- How to influence and contribute to partnerships

- Practical and strategic ways of working with the media

Following the programme, Podium's tutor Sam Marshall returned to Hitchin to deliver a further one day workshop for Regional Managers on Managing and Motivating staff.

"We were provided with a comprehensive programme of professional development training for our middle managers.  The tutors had effective delivery styles and the role play elements were particularly useful.   We would use Podium Training and Development in the future to support the vocational and professional development of our staff and would recommend them to other national governing bodies/organisations.”

Delegates' feedback about our tutors:

"Deborah delivered the one day course on ‘Leading and Managing People Effectively’ for our team in March 2010 and I would definitely recommend her to others. She is really motivational, personable and friendly in her approach.  She obviously knows her stuff and has a wide background of experience to refer to. She took time to listen and understand what we were going through in our work and used her experience to guide and help us. She adapted the course to suit the range of experience in the group and facilitated in such a way that I didn’t mind revisiting areas of prior learning. Overall, I thought she was excellent.”

“I liked Clare's delivery style.  It was good not having PowerPoint!"

The tutors were very well informed.”

"Helen had a really nice style, which kept all engaged. “
